Introduction

Studio turns a short-form video brief into a rendered MP4 with open source tools and a language model.

Last updated:

Studio is an open source short-form video studio. You describe the video. The application turns that brief into a prompt, a scene plan, and a rendered .mp4 for Shorts, Reels, and other vertical or square social cuts.

The public site is the documentation. Opening studio.vukem.dev lands here.

What you are building#

One video job moves through five stages:

  1. Brief. Goal, audience, length, aspect ratio, and visual style.
  2. Prompt. A compiled instruction for the language model, built from the brief and a style skill. The operator does not write that prompt by hand.
  3. Plan. Script, shot list, voice, captions, and asset list.
  4. Render. Remotion or HyperFrames draws the frames. FFmpeg encodes the file.
  5. Check. Duration, loudness, captions, and a factual pass before anyone downloads the file.

Two programs, one repository#

The framework documentation stays on vukem.dev. This site documents Studio only.

What a finished job returns#

A job is done when the worker stores one .mp4 plus a sidecar the operator can read: the compiled prompt, the scene plan, the tool versions, and the check report. A video that fails the check is not marked ready.
